The entire trail is 57 miles long. There are places to get on and off the trail. However.....be aware that it is difficult to locate various points on the trail by GPS or even Google maps. We started in Galax and walked a little then got in the car and drove to the Cliffview entrance. GPS put us in the...

I go to the New River Trails a couple of times a year with my mountain bike. I thoroughly enjoy the well-kept trail, and the ease of flat ground. Just have to be aware that there may be groups of horse riders and you have to stop and let them pass. I did about 10 miles an hour for the...

Have a meal at the Draper Mercantile at the end of your ride. Fantastic place and fantastic trails through lovely countryside and mostly along the new river
Great views. Beautiful scenery. Everything you could want in a hiking biking trail.
This trail can be hiked or biked even by those of us not in peak physical condition, yet you still enjoy the rugged mountains. it is an old railroad bed in the New River watershed. Wildlife abounds!
The trails was pretty but i wouldn't recommend a visit, the Rangers were very rude to my children and the one with the fu manchu mustache, i think his name was duane, made lude comments about my wife to the other workers.

Very well kept gravel, rails to trails route that follows the New River and Chestunt Creek. Lots of awesome photo spots; waterfalls, train tunnels and bridges....

We started in Draper, nice parking area, small fee, be sure to stop at the general store across the street....pick up a great trail map for $3 and get some local flavor from the manager. Rode...
