This is where everything is happening out on the street. Vendors selling their wares, performances, restaurants. Very lively. We had dinner at Nectars which was great - wonderful crepes. Also, on Friday night, we went to the Hotel Dario, had the buffet and watched the folk dancers. Drank Macua and had a wonderful time.

It is a beautiful street. it has a colonial style. It looks like granada in spain. I think many travelers like it because it is very lit at night,so there is no danger to walk aroud this nice street. If you walk on it, you will see the beautiful atmosphere, many musicians and musical bands playing music to fun many... More

Touristic pedestrian road of the central park, that is full of restaurantes , bars, and hostels. It is where the action and a nice place to sit , have a beer and people watch. Eight years ago, this was a run down area. Houses have been restored and turned into businesses. I guess the plan is to make it a... More

A nice area for food and drinks. Lots of restaurants with outside seating. We ate at this area about every day and felt very safe. You will be hounded by lots of locals selling their handicrafts (bracelets, pottery, sunglasses, etc.). If you walk to the very end of the street you will eventually see an old cathedral and then to... More

The Calle La Calzada is a tourist walkway, filled with restaurants, bars, travel agencies and other services for tourists and Nicaraguans who can afford them. It starts on the north side of the cathedral, at central park, and extends 4 blocks toward the lake (east.) Contruction is underway to extend it all the way to the lake. O'Shea's Irish Pub... More

We stayed at Hotel Plaza Colon and enjoyed the quick walk to Calle La Calzada. It was safe to walk at night and we felt very comfortable. Almost every restaurant has outdoor seating and it was nice to enjoy food and a drink while doing some people walking.

We enjoyed trying the different bars and restaurants. There were street performers every night. It was nice having so many choices in one place. We felt safe with the police around. Most were undercover so you didn't really notice them but it was nice knowing they were there.

I trip to Nicaragua without visiting La Calzada once, is like going to New York City and not visiting Time Square. Yeah, it is noise, touristy, and more expensive then elsewhere, but it is all those things because there is an inherent awesomeness to it that you will love. You will be glad you visited it. Visit it at night.... More

Over about 3 blocks there are many restaurants, bars and a few B & Bs. It is a gathering point for food with locals and tourists. Open late. Such a choice of food.

This street is pretty much the nightlife of Granada. After dinner, we walked down the street and found a bar with live music. We sat outside, you get a nice breeze from the lake, had a couple of drinks, listened to music and la Gigantona appeared. La Gigantona is a popular folklore personality in Nicaragua. It was a lot of... More
