Wow. I was getting chateau'd out, but this place rocks. Plan on a couple of hours to hike it all, but this is a dream hilltop at every level. OK, maybe the chateau itself is not the biggest or even that old, but it seems to complement the whole. Gorgeous views in every direction. Hedges that go forever along a... More

The gardens are huge, so go with time. We were able to take our dog, so we were happy about that. The views of the Dordogne River are amazing.

The only downside to this garden is that it's much more recent than all the castles and cities of the area. Only a 100 years old, not thousands!!! Visiting it felt a little bit like cheating. However, that being said, I've never seen anything quite like it. The gardens are beautifully manicured in a very French fashion and all the... More

This is worth the trip. We packed a pic-nic and had it in the gardens. So many hiking trails you could spend the day here.

Perched on top of cliffs in the Black Perigord, the garden commands beautiful views of La Roque, Castelnaud, and Beynac. There are miles of trails through the beautiful landscaping and topiary. Very nice and clean facilities, bathrooms, as well as play areas for young children. Great place to bring a picnic and the family! Also has a cafe and a... More

We saw photographs of the boxwood topiary and just had to visit! The garden is perched for about a mile along cliffs overlooking the Dordogne river. Location and views are fabulous - and good tea room/shop. One note of caution - don't go expecting vast collections of flowers - the topiary and the views are the outstanding aspects!

As we were there in mid-Sept. the jazz concerts were not being held. We visited on a sunny, hot afternoon and enjoyed the gardens, views and the tremendous amount of work that must go into keeping such a place up. At the end of our walk around we sat at the terrace tables and ordered a Kir (was rather skimpy!).... More

We had an excellent morning and lunchtime here. Arriving at about 10.45 we were amongst the earliest visitors and the gardens were very quiet. Slight disappointment that there was nowhere for a coffee at that time. The walks through the gardens and along the top of the cliff were wonderful, and the views stupendous. After a considerable amount of walking... More
