This museum was poorly organized with no guide book and a completely non repsonsive staff. Pretty building, nice setting but not very good.

This museum displays mostly pots and figurines and the like, found for the most part on Naxos; items from the Bronze Age through to the Roman. Nice Cycladic figurines. A fruit basket 4500 years old. I believe the entry fee is usually a few euros but when we went it was free; not sure why - day of the week?...

Naxos' history goes way back in prehistoric times. Koufonisia, Keros and Naxos are the centre of the Cycladic civilisation. The Archeological museum in Naxos boasts of maybe the richest Cycladic figurine collection in the world! One can also admire works of art and tools ranging from the prehistoric times up to early Byzantine times.
The building and display are a...

This museum is run with the most incredible care and has a collection of depth and extraordinary beauty. The diversity of the various cultures which have shaped the islands history are vidly captured. A must do, also a great way to explore the old town too.
It's at the top of the hill of Old Town, and not all paths lead to it, so look for the signs. There is tons to see, but don't think it's some fancy museum. It's a lot more relaxed and there isn't a whole lot of description/information about the collection.
Yiu don't realize just how much there is to see at first galnce but the whole place is packed with antiquities.
This museum represents an important period in the history of Greek art. Marble being readily available material on the island made it a significant area in terms of the establishment of the art form. There are some wonderful finds in this museum, especially the Early Cycladic marble statues, the Mycenaean clay vases and the mosaic floor from Aplomata. It is...

Place hasn't changed since last reviews (or since some decades ago to be honest), but I believe it is a MUST SEE non the less.
There is a great collection of large teracota items, a large collection of Cycladic idols and various other items (ancient bottles made of glass, pieces of jewllery, and many many more).
Obviously museum is understaffed,...

I have been visiting Naxos Archaeological Museum two times since 2005 and I found it not chnaged at all in two years. Probably it's in the same shape as it was 50 years ago. It has a a great collection af art, especially some very interesting piece of Cycladic art found mostly in Naxos and in Keros. There is a...

I have not encountered in Greece a worse presented collection. Although the museum has a few good pieces, the overall impression is that someone put the findings in glass cabinets 40 years ago and that was the last anyone paid them any attention. Hardly any object is numbered or explained, dust and cobwebs cover some of the cabinets. The walls...
