Slightly tricky to find as it's on Newport's harbour waterfront which always manages to take me by surprise when I turn the last corner. Its somehow "round the back" of town & may take a few goes to locate. If you like boats, the waterfront is worth a trip on it's own with some lovely old boats of all shapes... More

The museum has early examples of some of the boats I have sailed, plus an interesting collection of other types of boats including a rare example of the Uffa Fox life boat that was dropped from aircraft to ditched air crew in WW11 plus marine artifacts, including navigation materials, Fascinating!!

Not the easiest place to find on a first visit but very worthwhile if you like historic boats. Tucked away on the Medina River in Newport the Museum IS signposted but only once as far as we could see and that if you are heading up towards East Cowes. Coming down from East Cowes we did not see any sign.... More
