Madison's Montpelier home and farm is about 25 mins. from Monticello and is must see. Home has gone through a multi-million dollar restoration and the tour guide we had was excellent. besides the home there are other exhibits, a horse training track, and a RR station out at the Main Entrance. We didn't know alot about James Madison. It looks like this Museum is in progress. So, I will be anxious to go back in a few years to see what has been updated!

The restored home place of James Madison has been completed to perfection. The tour of the house is very informative and touches on aspects of the restoration and the life syles of James and Dolly Madison. Very worthwhile!

Leisurely, lovely place to learn history. One of the fun things is to talk to the excavation crew as they work to recreate even more buildings on the site. They are willing to talk to you about their work. The tour of the main house with docents is well done and enjoyable. I come home with more information on our... More

Despite the fact that Madison wrote our Constitution, he's not as well-known as his good friend Thomas Jefferson, but hopefully this museum will help rectify that. The docents are knowledgeable and the tour was terrific. You get a real feel for what life was like in the America of the 1700s.
