Tangier is a very warm and friendly Island. Our greadchildren love to take their bikes and go get ice-cream. It's a place were people care about one another and are always willing to lend a helping hand.

They need to step up the tourist industry there. It is still a new idea. Shuttles to the beach would be awesome!
A day trip to Tangier is for the young, say 30 to 50 years old. A few hours visiting is all you need. Staying overnight will be disappointing.
If you want to truly get away and relax, try Tangier Island! Our phones, internet, and the tv didn't work (it was only 2 weeks after a hurricane) but we had a great time! The people were sweet, and it was a delight to hear the slight British accent in their speech. We stayed at Shirley's Bay View Inn, highly...

No fancy movie theaters, nor any bars. Don't bother looking for a night club or a show. But if you want to go somewhere that you can decompress and take a 50 year step back in time, then this is the place! Hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, sunbathing are all on the list for this little island. Quite a few options...

Everything we have heard about this tiny Island was true; it’s a quaint little fishing town that somehow stopped in time. Everyone was so friendly and greeted us everywhere we went. We were slightly disappointed that the Museum was closed for the season but the beach and sunsets more than made up if the loss.
Be sure and give yourself time to visit Tangier Island. We took the ferry from Onancock, VA. It's only a little over one hour on the boat. Arrived on Tangier around 11, paid $5 each for a golf cart tour of the island, then walked and walked. Ate lunch at Fisherman's Corner and the crab cakes were fabulous. Be sure...

After hearing about how unique Tangier is, I had to come visit. We took the Crockett's ferry to the island (highly recommend them!) and stayed for about five hours until the boat returned. The island is very small and the only sights are a couple of restaurants, an ice cream shop, a small grocery store (catered more towards the locals),...

Tangier is an isolated island in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. The only way to get there is by boat or if you own a small aircraft there is a small airport. The tour boats are the Chesapeake Breeze departing from Reedville Va. Or the Stephen Thomas which departs from Crisfield Md. Check online for times. I belive the...

We visited Tangier Island and stayed at Hilda Crockett's B&B. Felt like I was visiting my Grandma's summer house at the beach. Great food, golf carts to ride around and our favorite event was the private boat trip by Mr. Crockett who explained the history of the island; and its' people. We touched peelers crabs and were taught how to...
