Bassett Hall the residence of the Rockefellers is a fascinating place. Most of the furnishings are original. Bassett Hall is off of the main road and hidden from view. Make sure you get over there. So much of Colonial Williamsburg is reproduced. Bassett Hall is not a reproduction, but was inhabitted by Rockefeller and his wife. Most of the artifacts in the home are from the Rockefellers. The home is beautiful, with fantastic chandeliers and folk art. more

This tour of the house can be interesting. The guide was knowledgable. You should include it in your Williamsburg visit. Our tour got a little bogged down with people asking questions that could have been skipped. The worst was "how do they salt thier food?" when we toured the dining room. The house does have a lot of interesting features. more

No matter how many times a person visits there, there is always something they have missed, and so this is what happened to us. We were visiting with two of our sons, daughter in law, my cousin and her husband.... more
