My husband and I were on our way on route 542 toward Mt. Baker ski area just recently (Oct 09, and visiting from MA) when we came across the sign for Nooksack Falls, and I said, "let's stop on our way back", which we did. And we are so glad we did! On Jan 1, 2009, we stopped at Nooksack on the way down from Mt. Baker after a day of snowboarding. The trailhead is marked at mile marker 33. There were people on the trail with snowshoes, but it was packed enough that my trailrunners did just fine. The waterfall was really pretty, especially with the snow covering all the trees.... more
