I love this place and only a mile to the 'downtown'
This was a nice relaxing walk by the water. The spit reaches out almost to Lopez Island. Very flat, so not strenuous at all.
I love Spencer Spit... great beach, easy access, fun things to do... besides being beautiful!
We stayed in one of the tent sites, not on the beach. The bathrooms were okay, it would be nice if they had a real mirror and maybe some showers, but there was water and toilets close to our site, and the rangers were friendly (one was pretty cute too!). Just returned from camping at Spencer Spit, have sailed by in the past but never stopped there. It's a great spot, beautiful NW style beach with even some sand. This place is quiet and scenic, and offers a unique natural feature. The tides over many years have created a spit of rock that almost, but not quite, reaches a nearby island. There are many birds, multiple picnic and camping sites, and is reachable by car, bike and boat.
