the photographic review of Port Townsends history all the way back to the 1850's and earlier is simply astounding. The communit takes great pride in the Historic and "victorian" architectural development of the buildings and homes.

Stopped in with friends. What a great place. Wonderful exhibits. They also sent us to the furnished Rothchild House located on the bluff above town and the furnished Commander's House out at Fort Worden. The museum manages these two houses for the State of WA. We had a great day in PT but so sorry we missed the museum walking...

Great old building and a nice display of Northwest artifacts. A new exhibit of contemporary art opens in April. Will definitely go back when that is ready.

When wandering around this pretty little town you immediately begin to wonder how all of these Victorian buildings came to be in such a remote place (And are still there.). Answers to all questions can be found at the historical society museum. They have wonderful exhibits of artifacts and photographs about the once bustling and rowdy seaport.
