The world is full of museums. This one stands out because it focuses on the art of glass-making. The museum itself is unique in design, and the fun starts before you even go inside with much art in their courtyard. Inside, there are several galleries of glass art to view that are interesting, documented and well-displayed. But the outstanding feature... more

My son was scolded for no reason by museum gaurd. I was standing right by my seven year old son when a museum gaurd came over, bent to his level, and said, "Don't get so close to the exhibits." I've never heard of such an offense. He wasn't even touching anything. All pieces were behind glass boxes. We spent a... more

My wife and teenager, both of an artistic bent, were really looking forward to this museum, and both gave it mixed reviews. The glass blowing demonstrations (all day affairs) were simply mesmerizing, but the displays were alarmingly small and disappointing. Given the fairly pricey admission and the fact that you have to pay for parking to boot, there really should... more

Reading other reviews, I noticed that no one had mentioned the greatest Art Deal in town...The Third Thursday, when admission to the Museum of Glass is free. Additionally, the adjacent Tacoma Art Museum and the Washington State History Museum (in the evening) are free. I thoroughly enjoyed all three museums, and the price was right! more

The musean is uniqe in that it features display areas for art glass exhibits and a theater-style area that features glass artists creating art most days, all day long. more

We drove from Gig Harbor, WA where we were staying, and for $10 admission each, for myself and two kids, we were disappointed. Not much in the galleries and the worst part - they follow you around like you're going to steal the art! I am a educated, well-dressed person and we all felt uncomfortable being "shadowed" by museum personnel.... more

If you are into high art glass or Dale Chiuly's work this sis the place to stop. As a routine museum trip if you are not into the subject matter it would probably not be the greatest for you. The museum is very modern in physical design and includes a bridge of glass to the city with unusual glass pieces... more

I was also surprised to not see more glass art, but there's still a lot to feast your eyes on. This museum is not to be missed for the unique chance to see glass works being made. If that show isn't on, then it's still Ok, but just not superlative. They should have reduced the entrance price when the glass... more

As others have said, the hot shop is the highlight and was clearly intended to be based on it's size compared to other parts. There are only 4 galleries here. One has the current exhibit, one is devoted to a huge Chihuly (sp?) piece, one is quite interesting showing the history of glass work and the different ways it can... more

I enjoyed the museum very much! It was the highlight of my trip to Tacoma. I would recommend that people allow quite a bit of time to see everything there. We didn't arrive until 3:00 p.m., so I didn't spend a lot of time looking at the exhibits, but it was DEFINITELY worth the $10 museum admission just to see... more
