You are correct in saying that no other winemakers will say anything bad about Blackwood Canyon - - kind of reminds me of the emporer who had no clothes?? Know what I mean! If you are pretenious and care more about how the winery looks instead of how it tastes --- this place is not for you. It is some of the best wine in the state easily. As Mike (the winemaker) will tell you, the more money you spend on a fancy building the less you have to spend on making good... more

We really like Red Mountain wines so were very excited to be able to visit the AVA. We planned on 2-3 winery visits on this cold sunny Sunday afternoon. First of all, to the previous reviewer who complained of the 'vinegar-ry' smell, I have been to Blackwood several times and never smelled vinegar, except when I was sampling some of the excellent vinegar that they do have for sale here.
