We enjoyed driving the highway with all the wonderful curves and gorgeous view of the mountains. A must drive, especially if you have a vehicle that hugs the road.
While some of the scenic views were great, the general maintenance of the highway vegetation surrounding the roadway has been neglected. Judging from the height of weeds (4-5 ft in spots), it doesn't appear this is a result of the recent storm. Somewhat disappointed.
Lots of scenery and hope for a group of cyclists to come by and put on a show for you. Thanks Princeton group.
Our motorcycle roadtrip, through Kentucky, West Virginia, and Virginia, included Highland Scenic Highway. It is an amazingly beautiful ride. We rode on a warm, bright, and sunny blue sky afternoon. It was a highlight of our trip. A definite must ride for any kind of vehicle, especially fantastic for bikes: twists, turns, vistas, and altitude changes.
The Highland Scenic Highway is one of my favorite places in West Virginia! My family owns a cabin in Summersville and it never fails - each summer, we always take a day trip through Richwood, across the HSH, and eat lunch at Cass Scenic Railroad. The route never disappoints and I look forward to the drive every year.
I love driving this road anytime almost anytime. Beautiful views and nice hikes along the way.
We drove this on motorcycles in late May. It was deserted and we had the road to ourselves. Fantastic road surface and many twists and altitude changes. Read 4550 msl on GPS. Not to be missed for bikes and Motorcycles. Be sure to take in Route 66 through Cass also.
