Our group of 12 took an express trip down the lower New River. We had the best guides, Dar and Dillion. They gave us all the directions we needed, info about the river, history and other attractions near by. We were told that we could request our quides in the future-we will, they were that good. The weather a bit... More

Our entire group (there were 14 of us) had an awesome experience camping and whitewater rafting the Lower Gauley through River Expeditions. We arrived Friday night and set up tents and after a good night sleep and small continental breakfast, we were ready for wetsuit fittings (and I HIGHLY recommend them during Gauley season as the water is frigid and... We took this trip on a Monday. We were the only raft on the river. The scenery was beautiful and the guides were very knowledgeable about the river and local surroundings. Both were entertaining while making sure we were safe. Before every rapid they told us what to do encase you fall out and where to go on the river.... More

Rafted with River Expeditions for several years now and this year we dissapointed. First, apparently there discounts available but when our group leader asked if there were any available, she was told no only to find out later there were some available. Our guide was not the best this year. She never even asked our names or tried to get... More

Over the last 10 years we have rafted the New River with another couple. We have used several outfitters and usually were pleased or we wouldn't have returned. We always found the safety standards high and the guides to be knowledgeable if sometimes not our favorite. Our problem this year was with the booking policy, my wife made the arrangements... More

We just got back from rafting and it was great! Very clean camping facilities including the showers. My only complaint is the gross porty potties in the tent camping area. Totally gross with no toilet paper. But we just made the drive to the very nice shower houses. Breakfast served could be better but it was quick and that is... More

My girlfriend and I had our first white water rafting trip on the Lower New River with River Expeditions. i can't speak highly enough about the campground, staff, and the trip itself. We arrived around 9:00 p.m. on Friday night. The Welcome Center is staffed 24 hours a day, and the friendly folks who greeted us when we arrived were... More

We went with another family rafting. We stayed in the platform tents which were nice. Not every tent had its own fire ring but you could take one from an empty tent area. There's a Walmart about a mile away if you forget anything. The showers/bathrooms were very clean. There's a little store next to them that sells firewood, snacks,... More

We went for the rating and stayed at the campground. The campground for tents were open fields with few fire pits and picnic benches for the area. One set of nice bathrooms and showers but had portal johns. Not worth the per ought campground cost if you are paying for it. There are other campground in the area that are... More

We purchased a 2 night camping and one day rafting expedition on the Lower New River. While we thoroughly enjoyed our rafting trip, our camping experience was a nightmare! We traveled all the way from Michigan, which was over a 10 hour drive. We set up camp at Bear Claw, and enjoyed the pool and dinner. We returned to our... More
