My boyfriend and I toured the Cave of the Mounds while vacationing in the area this past June. The tour guide was very informative and offered to take pictures of tourists in the cave. The hour-long tour takes you through various parts of the cave, including some tight squeezes. The cave boasts some incredible formations. Afterward, my boyfriend did some... more

First go here to Brigham Park : http://www.co.dane.wi.us/lwrd/parks/brigham.aspx it's right near the cave with excellent panoramic views, we stumbled upon it by accident just on our way to the cave and it's named after the guy who discovered the cave on his farm. There's great history and location to the cave. The grounds are enjoyable and the gift shop is... more

We went with our children ages 3 and 5. We really enjoyed the tour. The cave is pretty, not as nice as those you would see out west but still very nice. Our tour guide was informative but a little quiet at times. She did have a wealth of information to share regarding the history of the cave. The kids... more

The tour guide was well informed about the cave and gave us good information. However, I felt that the tour was rushed and a little incomplete. We were just ahead of a camp group. Instead of letting the group go ahead, the guide seemed to speed up here presentation which made the experience a little disappointing. We thought there would... more

The staff was friendly and informative. The tour guide was great. The cave was amazing. My three year old was a little intimidated, but my two older kids loved it. Some older persons on the tour had trouble with the large amount of stairs and narrow corridors. The tour does last an hour. more

This was a neat cave to visit and the kids enjoyed it. But since we have been in many caves it is not one of the most impressive. It does have a neat story behind it. I am glad we went. more

Cave tours all year 'round. Great fun especially in the summer because the cave is cool. They also have events all year. Caroling in the cave for Christmas is a treat. You can enjoy singers from the area in the wonderful acoustics. There's also outdoor activites, hiking trails. The vistor's building has treats in the summer, and there's a nice... more

The Cave of the Mounds was an educational and fun visit. The tour consists of a 10-15 minute movie about how the cave was formed, followed by a tour. It is quite cool in the cave and jeans and/or a sweatshirt should be worn if you get cold easily. There are many beautiful formations to be seen, including the ones... more

The Cave itself is beautiful and not to be missed. The tour is very nice and informative. Our group was a little too large for us to hear everything the tour guide had to say from the back of the group. Our 4 year old wasn't ready for all the talking. Great attraction and great tour, but not for little... more

I can't believe I am the first person to review Cave of the Mounds. It is a National (natural) Landmark. The drive is a lovely drive from the Chicago-area. An easy day-trip. The caves are 1 million years old. The tour is aprox. 1 hr. They have stairs & lighted, paved, walkways. Our tour guide was great. They have a... more
