Cheese and other unique types of food. Easy to take with you if you are traveling. Good sandwiches and a fun place to see. You won't be able to leave w/o some goodies.
Some work friends drove up from Chicago with me to check out the Castle we had seen previouly while passing by. We were a bit disappointed with the stinginess of the cheese samples having had a great experience at a location in Milwaukee. One of the guys and I decided to give it a second try. The employees were more... More
First off, getting to it from the highway is a bit confusing. Once you get there, it's basically a grocery store with a couple cheese/cow related souvenirs for sale. Most of the stuff is overpriced and a typical local supermarket offers similar products for less. The castle/cheese theme is present, but not to the grade to be an attraction. So... More
Mar's Cheese Castle is a fun place to visit. If you are interested in buying a "cheesehead" or other Wisconsin tourist Paraphernalia, this is a MUST on your list of places to stop by. The cheese baskets and variety are very good. And of course, you have to stop in the restaurant for some good ole fashion Wisconsin dishes. You... More
Mars Cheese Castle is a local tradition and a way stop for travelers for years. It has had a facelift in the last few years and is bigger but still great. Wonderful selection of cheeses and wines also a bakery and shop for spices hot sauces and little fun snack foods.
One of the best places to stop and pick up some cheese and have a quick bite. You can find so many different kinds of cheese that it will be hard to choose. This time of year they can be a little busy but it is worth the wait. Plus, you get to see a store with a long history... More
Their chicken noodle soup cheese... although sounds odd... is very tasty! Kringle always fresh and great gift idea for a teacher.

We stopped twice during a very quick visit to the area. On each visit, we were pressed for time and there were crowds of people so we didn't explore as much as we wanted. We bought cheeses on each visit and they were delicious. If we ever get back to the area, we'll allow lots more time for a proper... More
