Big Manitou Falls is right off the highway. If you want an amazing hike, go to Little Manitou Falls. I think it's about 1.5 miles one way over a rugged (unpaved), but safe, path.

This is one of those spots that you wont spend all day but it is beautiful. The sheer beuty and massive height is incredible. My helpful tip is to bring bug spray, because the mosquito's could carry you away. Beautiful place to take pictures.
There are nice campground at the park. Great place to spend your hot summer days. There are beautiful waterfalls as well. Big Manitou Falls is right next to the campground. Little Manitou Falls is a little bit further down the road. There are a lot of mosquitoes late summer so be aware and remember to bring mosquitoes repellent.

The Big Mantiou Falls, 165' high, were fantastic and easily accessed. The gorge carved by this river is deep and steep.
Big Manitou falls inside this park is amazing! I've seen other state parks tout their "biggest" falls and they don't come close to Big Manitou! What a beautiful park! There's a gorgeous easy hike along the river to the Upper Falls plus a number of lookouts. Get a map when you arrive. You can swim, stay on the beach, camp, picnic or fish. Bring your canoe or kayak. Worth the visit to Superior all by itself.
We only had a couple of hours to visit but were glad we took them. It is beautiful here. The Manitou falls are spectacular. I couldn't believe that a waterfall that tall was here as you can't see the gorge until you walk to it. The lake is pretty and the swimming looked good even though we couldn't do it....
