This is a worthwhile stop when in the Cody/Powell area (only 15 min drive from Cody). It is a fair and informative presentation of the Japanese relocation center once located there. It is interesting for both adults and children. I learned a lot and could have stayed for several hours. Recommended highly.

Simply wonderful, I live in Powell and have been out to the Heart Mountain site a number of times. This recently opened museum sheds light on daily life at the Relocation center and has so many artifacts from people time there. You can also watch videos about the Relocation center and even hear stories told by those who lived there.... More

From the knowledgeable greeters, to the initial brief DVD, to the numerous push-botton activated multimedia screens to the displays, documents, and huge pics, this is a MUST SEE for folks visiting the area. Fascinating, Historical, & Disgusting. Well done.

Newly open museum on the Japanese American Internment Camp during WWII. A easy to follow outdoor self guided tour and museum exhibits. Truly moving. Its about 15 minutes drive from Cody (14 miles east of Cody), take Hwy 14A to Road 19 and follow sign.

We visited on August 27, 2011 and it was an Amazing Experience. The new Interpretive Center is well planned out and gives a very good representation of this sad part of American History. This is one of the only remaining internment camps of the original 10 and the only one that still has original building standing. The New Interpretive Center... More

The Heart Mountain Relocation Center opened to rave reviews in August 2011. Exhibits center around the lives of Japanese American families who were interned there during World War II. The museum is great, thought-provoking, a must for American and international visitors who want to learn more than the "Old West." Suitable for all age groups.

We took our 3 kids...a teen, a tween, and a little one. In about one hour they got a great history lesson. Highly recommend it.
