I live only a short drive from this place and I wouldn't choose to live anywhere else. Great fishing, great hiking, minimal traffic most of the time. It's a beautiful escape that you shouldn't miss. Be sure to respect the wildlife and take out any trash you take in so that future generations can enjoy the pristine beauty just as... More

I was blown away on how beautiful not only the drive, but the actual activities that are available all year round. This is a great place for families and friends to visit.

We drove over the mountains from Sheridan on Hwy 14 and back to Buffalo on Hwy 16. 14a was closed. It was very nice and picturesque, a little long for me, but worth the drive. The ruggedness of the land on either side is not as pleasant as the Black Hills but the height of the mountains is more impressive.

A gentle drive over this gorgeous range provides spectacular views of the western and eastern plains of Wyoming. We marveled at the sceneries as we cruised slowly from Sheridan to Greybull on Route 14, approx a 2 hour traverse that takes you to exposed layers of ancient rocks, lodgepole pine forests, falls, rivers and canyons. At that time, we were... More

The trip along Bighorn Scenic Byway and Shell Canyon is just gorgeous. It was quiet up there with such lovely scenery. We wanted to go up to the Medicine Wheel, but it is located on top of a mountain where you have to drive 1.5 miles up a dirt road to the car park, and then a further 1.5 miles... More

Red Grade Loop (NO 5'rs, trailers, or RV'S) --Wild Wyoming: From Sheridan head South to Big Horn; you'll plainly see the 'Red Grade' road right up the face of mountain, this is the portion of road requiring high clearance as it is steep and rough, especially in spring. Once on top the road is smoother gravel. Travel across top (approx... More

We drove from Sheridan to Ranchester and into the mountains taking the scenic byway. Amazing views, great geology to see, the Burgess Visitor was very good and then taking Hwy 14 A to the Medicine Wheel. A short hike at 9600 ft elevation with great views over the Bighorn Range . Well worth time. Didn't have time to fish the... More

We did this drive in late May and there was still a lot of snow piled at the side of the roads, one snowdrift was easily 12 foot high so they obviously get a lot of snow over the winter. We actually stopped for our sandwiches at the side of a stream that was still frozen. The morning we were... More
