Dan and his crew are top notch. We have been out with him two times. Once with my 100 year old dad. The crew made sure he was safe, comfortable and saw lots of whales. Dan is very well informed and experienced. His commentary does a lot to enrich the trip. I highly recommend this attraction. Competent, comfortable and LOTS... More

We learned a lot about whales and were able to see a number of them, as well as some dolphins. It was a good experience but if you are prone to seasickness, you are out in the ocean.

Captain Dan McSweeney and his crew were very informative on the whales and other marine life that would potentially be seen on the trip while making it fun at the same time. It is an activity all ages could enjoy. The suggestion to have a light breakfast for the early morning trip was a great idea as it kept any... More

This whale-watching adventure was rated No. 1 in the Big Island guidebook and for good reason! Captain Dan has 40 years experience and it shows. He captains every tour personally with his two lovely young assistants who are so friendly and helpful. He narrates the voyage to educate participants about the great humpback whales and dolphins. In the 3 hours... More

I reviewed all the literature I could get on whale watching tours in Kona. Capt. Dan McSweeney seemed to be he best by far. We were extremely happy with Capt. Dan, the crew, the boat, snacks and drinks, and the wildlife we saw, and the research paid off. The literature indicated that Capt. Dan was very professional and we can... More

We had a "mixture" of age groups - toddlers, young children, teenagers and us adults. So, we weren't sure how well everyone was going to do on this 3 hour tour. Everyone had a blast! We saw many whales...the boat is only allowed to get a certain distance to them, so none of the whales were right near the boat.... More

This was a wonderful trip. We saw many humpback whales and two of the breached for us! Captain Dan was a wonderful guide and very knowledgeable. He gave a very interesting narrative during the trip. The crew was also very knowledgeable and helpful. Theyt were very accommodating to my 88 year old mother, who uses a walker. Her walker had... More

This was our second trip with Capt. Dan - he really knows his stuff. The whole team are friendly and knowledgeable and we would highly recommend a whale watch with them.

Fantastic trip. We saw whale, they even swam under the boat! And then we saw the spinner dolphin - actually spinning! The crew offered light snacks (fruit, chips and cheese) while on the trip and provided educational presentations. Highly recommended!

We took the morning trip to try and see some whales and other sealife from up close. A friend who lived for two years on Big Island told us about Captain Dan McSweeney, so we decided to go with him. We arrived in the Honokohau Harbor around 6:30, and were almost immediately greeted by Dan, who led us to his... More
