When we went to Volcano Winery, we expected a tour of the facilities, but it is more a place to participate in wine tasting. Volcano makes really good wine in several varities. The price for their wines is much better when you buy it in their Gift Shop, vs purchasing in the Grocery Stores. There is also a Kamaaina discount... More

This is a cute winery that is hidden in Volcano. We were greeted by a friendly staff and were able to taste each wine they had available. Most of their wines are infused with fruits from the island. My boyfriend have two completely different wine tastes (I'm dry and he's sweet), but we both found wines that we loved. The... More

I was disappointed in all the wines I sampled here. While the wine wasn't the best, the ladies working at the winery were amazing. There are also a lot of good Hawaiian gifts in the store. All in all, it is an okay place to visit if you are staying more than a couple days in the area.

While the wine is just average, how can you pass up such a unique experience. The people are very friendly and the gift shop has a lot of nice items. If you are in the area it is worth a visit.

The wine is interesting. Not the best I've ever had but not the worst, and the winemakers are inventive, e.g., guava-grape wine and other Hawaiian touches. Most of the grapes come from California. We were a little frustrated when we got there because we waited for almost 10 minutes for one of the staffers to finish a tasting and then... More

Drove here from Kona. Great drive, very scenic. The winery offers free tasting of it's basic wines. They have a locally grown red, that is a reserve and do not offer atastings of that. I liked the pinot noir and the pinot grigio, but was disappointed to learn those grapes are grown in California and flown to Hawaii for smooshing... More

You must stop by here to taste the wine. They have very unique types that you'll love trying and probably buying. Very nice people do the tasting. They have a good box you can use for your checked baggage to bring your wine back.

I was in Hilo for 6 months as a travel nurse, and had lots of friends come over, as I had a free condo and a car. One of the attractions we just couldnt miss was Volcano Winery! The gals who take you through the series of about 10 wines, are very knowledgeable, answer most of your questions about the... More

My husband and I thought we would do something a little fun after a day of sight-seeing around Hilo/Volcano. So we planned a trip to the winery mainly to taste the unique flavors such as guava and honey. Neither of us are “wine enthusiasts” but we thoroughly enjoyed every single wine they had to offer. The free tasting was quite... More
