You do not need to be in great condition to enjoy this hike, and you get some beautiful views of the island. Hiking up to the covered picnic table is worth it, and if you are up for a short more strenuous effort, going up to the hole (some call it the giant's nostril) is amazing.

This is a "regular" hike to take, especially for first time visitors. Great panoramic view of east coast. 2 trail heads - east and west sides. On clear, hot days take the west trail in the morning, or the east trail in the late afternoon so you can stay in the shade.

A nice moderate hike with excellent views throughout. At the top you are treated to views of the entire coconut coast as well as Mount Waialeale. Definitely a "must do" when on the east shore of Kauai.

So I talked my husband into this great hike everyone kept talking about in the island. It does look like a "sleeping giant," but it is really a mountain. The hike was great, but it is slippery when wet and not a stroll in the park. Some climbing is involved so make sure you wear good shoes. The views are... More

Loved the Norfolk Pines on the trail, huge & beautiful. Great uphill climb, need to be a little "billygoat" at the top, but worth it for the views.

We actually came around the back side of the mountain end the sign telling to turn up the full was folded in half so we kept going straight. We made it to an outlet on the other side of the mountain but didn't have any spectacular views. On the way back we saw the sign and took it up. It... More

An excellent, medium difficulty hike of about 2 miles which will give you breathtaking views of the mountains and ocean. The last leg to the very top is more difficult (especially coming down) but the view up there is amazing! The very top is not for the faint of heart and everyone who goes up there needs to be very... This is a 2 mile hike to the top of a prominent mountain feature. It has some rough spots, but doable by most with hiking experience. It is a bit more challenging at the very top, but you don't have to go that far to enjoy the awesome views. Allow at least 2 hours.

I live at the bottom of this hike. I do it with my dog once a week. Unfortunately many people, mostly visitors, have caused lots of erosion by cutting the switchbacks in order to walk 20 feet less. Please stop doing this as it is ruining the trail! The County has already had to reroute part of the path because... More

It is a great adventure, but challenging hike for us middle agers. I think it is very doable. My husband, who may have better judgement than I, thought the trail was too dangerous when we got to the spot where you had to climb up to a narrow steep area over several rocks. It's more of a climb than a... More
