having heard that the locals were not so friendly so i was very impressed with the staff at the Plantation. Out of our two week stay the visit to the Plantation brought us to the nicest people on the island. They were the best! Taryn, Crystal and Shan made us feel like Ohana. more

Just returned from our trip. $80 for Grandma, 3 kids and myself to take this less than fun/interesting train ride. Talk about a rip off! The mansion with its shops were cute, the shop owners/staff were pleasant. We thought about eating something while we waited for the train (they only leave on the hour) but there was an extra charge... more

The talent and aloha spirit of the dancers was phenomenal. The performance was just breath taking. I loved the fire and hula dancers. The train ride was also informative. I liked getting to feed the "wild" pigs and seeing the variety of friut growing on the plantation. The food was really quite good - better than I expected for a... more

Save your money. At $95 per person the food should be decent, it was terrible. The worst food we had while in Kauai. The only good thing about this luau was the show... Food was terrible. I heard from others vacationers that the Smith Family Luau was a good value. more

If you're into train rides a must do. I and my husband loved the ride. Informative guide. Someone in another review mentioned a farmer's market. They do plan to do that in a few months according to the guide. I loved the fact that they are planting endemic trees on their land to try to support local species for the... more

Last day of my Kauai stay, I went to Kilohana. I took lunch at Gaylord's restaurant. Crab & artichoke dip was delicious. We started to eat at 1:30. Luckily, we could catch the last train of Plantation railway. I enjoyed the ride. I was happy to have time to feed wild pigs (babies were so cute.), goat and sheep. more

What drew us here was something we read in one of the tourist guides about a farmer’s market on-site. When we arrived and started asking around, no one knew what we were talking about, and there was no fresh produce for purchase on this “plantation.” A bit disappointing, but since we were already there, we had a look around. The... more

For several years I was fortunate enough to travel to kauai each October. I never missed the opportunity to visit Kilohana Plantation, particularly Gaylords Restaurant. The food far surpassed anything I'd ever had where I lived and the Chef was quite oblidging when asked about his wonderful tomato soup. I quite like tomato soup and have never had a bowl... more

I recently visited Kilohana Plantation for the first time with a group of 50 travel professionals. We all enjoyed if very much. The lunch at Gaylords was excellent. The train ride was a real kick. (Be sure to bring a camera.) Even the gift shop had some unique things that you didn't see everwhere else. You get a taste of... more

I've lived on Kauai for 20 years and was very impressed with the kilohana experience. I am ashamed I havn't visited earlier! The house is beautiful and the shopping is superb, there is even shops upstairs that are the hidden treasures of the house. The grounds are well maintained and the clydesdales out front are very cool. You have to... more
