Small museum which tells the story of Hawaii's history, with emphasis on missionaries, royal families. Try to get there when the guided tour starts, as there's only one per day. Temporary exhibits too. A good diversion from the beaches, and other scenery- Gives your open jaw a break from the "omg" look on your face at being around scenery you've... More

I wish I'd found this place sooner! It's so amazing and I learned things about the history of Kauai. Their gift shop is something else and I found dolphins (I'm a fool for them) carved out of wood and a Hawaiian dancer that is just beautiful ( you have to see it)! The workmanship on these is almost perfect and... More

Easy access, friendly staff, interesting history of the islands. The DVD was well worth watching. We spent more time in the museum than we'd planned.

This little museum is so wonderful. My favorite is the gift shop. They even sold some of my ceramics of Kauai-Jessicaceramics.com

Stumbled on theis little gem while filling up tank b4 returning to airport. In 30 minutes we heard some traditional Hawaiian music, picked up some interesting souveneirs and authentic crafts and got a quick tour of the many aspects of Hawaiian history.

The museum covers everything from how the islands were formed to more recent times, including the plantation days. Items by local artists in various mediums are also on display, including hand made quilts.

This small local museum is worth a short visit. They are friendly and the admission is reasonable. There are some beautiful art objects in the main gallery, but the building with the historical exhibits is sadly inadequate. I found the information about the islands redundant but some of the local historical items were worth the trip. IMPT NOTE: the museum is... More

The locals are very proud of their little museum. Not much to see and an admission price that exceeds the value of what they have.

I went to the museum on a rainy Friday morning with my three-year-old son, and it was the perfect way to spend an hour when the beach was off limits for a while. From the models of old ships and accounts of Captain Cook's visits to the islands, to some great old maps, photos and examples of ancient island life,... More
