A must-do on the highway to Hana. We stopped here to eat our lunch, as did a number of others. It was absolutely beautiful. We wished we had our swimsuits to take a dip. What a killer spot. The cabins are "grungy" but they provide all you really need (power, water, fridge, stove/oven, bed and shower). Waianapanapa State Park is a great place to stop and visit on the road to Hana. The lush green fauna against the ocean backdrop is beautiful. The Black Sand beach should not be missed. If you make the drive to Hana, you must stop at Wai'anapanapa State Park. It's a beautiful place to visit! The black sand beach is lovely. Wai'anapanapa state park is, in my opinion, a must see. The black sand (ok, ok, pebbles) against the almost neon green vegitation and the cobalt blue water is breathtaking. Wai'anapanapa State Park was a great diversion along the Road to Hana. The black sand beach was amazing and easy to walk to. There are also very interesting wet and dry caves to explore further insland away from the beach. A beautiful park with interesting geography and sites. However, during my visit, the facilities were being renovated (the bathroom and shower facilities were in bad shape). You gotta stop here on your Road to Hana trip. The black sand beach is just breathtaking and make sure you check out the sea arch and cave while at the beach.
