Our experience with Maui Stables was unforgettable for a few reasons explained below. Lets start with the positives. Keone (or John) our guide deserves 5 stars. He is absolutely the best guide you could possibly have. He was incredibly knowledgeable about Hawaiian culture, history, and all of the plants. We tasted some really good wild berries and some type of... More

No other tour can compare to this. The horses were friendly and geared to each rider's ability. All are rescued horses that are clearly cared for and loved (I say this as an animal lover and rescuer). The staff is amazing and knowledgeable. There was not a single moment you thought of them as this being 'just their job' as... More

When visiting Maui, make time to make the trip to Hana. My wife and I headed out early from Lahaina to Hana (about 2.5 hour drive) and took the exciting "Road to Hana" drive. Definitely a must for those looking for breath-taking views and a different driving experience. We arrived at the Maui Stables and was greeted by our guide,... More

We really enjoyed our experience with Maui stables. The horses were great, the views were wonderful, and we really felt like we learned a lot about Hawaiian culture. If you go to Maui, it is worth the trip to go to the Hana side. The lush rain forest is much different than the other side of the island. I would... More

took my 8 and 10 yr old daughters to maui stables.Horses were great and very easy to handle.Horses are matched to their riders and Keone and Ed are great examples of the culture and spirit of hawaii.took the Piilani hiway instead of the hana road.Very easy and not as bad as people say.A beautiful ride around haleakala and into the... This is an absolute requirement if you come to Hana. The people at the Maui Stables not only know what they are doing with horses, they know more about Hawaii, its origins, history, geography, and traditions than anyone I have met. The ride is well controlled, and each moment is filled with new information about where you are and why... More

My family, 4 children and wife, left the Westin in Kanapali around 6 am. We decided to take the Southern route to Maui Stables as opposed to going the road to Hana. If you go this way you can eat breakfast at Grandma's Coffee Shop. I think Keone said the stables are about 1.5 hourse form GM's Coffee Shop. Stopping... More

Keone was a great guide and horses were well taken care of and verymwell behaved, however I found the ride too steep up to the waterfall. Going down was not much better. I prefer a flater route and more toward the ocean and the rainforest. Had I realized the ride was so steep I probably wouldn't have chosen this one.
