The bike ride was thrilling and exhilarating. It's hard to describe exactly what it's like to travel 15-20 mph on a steep, downhill road with lots of twists and turns. And very few, if any, guard rails along the way. Our tour guides (Rico and Dave) were awesome! We went on the day trip. Our guides were informative, professional and... more

What should have been a lovely experience was spoiled by a flat tire on our tour van and a tour guide and manager that didn't care at all about their customers. For those that haven't taken the tour, it takes about 1.5-2 hours to get to the summit of Haleakala from the office. So when we were stranded at the... more

On the ride up we could barely hear the bike leader who had advised us (in the dark) to use washrooms prior to sunrise and stick to paths along the fence. After a quick washroom break and catching a wonderful sunrise at the top peak we were instructed that we had broken the rules (only NON commercial tours are allowed... more

The tour has changed from years ago. We were six hours with Maui Downhill. We estimated 40 minutes or less were spent on bikes. The tour was only 15 miles on bikes. Previously it had been 38 miles. The rest of the time we spent in the shop van or taking lovely pictures. The pictures we could have done ourselves... more

This was a great experience, but then I am an active person and I like being in different enviroments and doing different things. This is a rugged adventure, eventhough it is on a bike. Some in our group apparantly though otherwise, but we did not let them ruin our fun. Yes, you have to get up early, it is a... more

We have just returned from Maui and as we had been on their downhill daytime ride 10 years ago and enjoyed it so much we had decided that on our return to Maui we would do the sunrise ride with them. We were very disapointed and wanted to share it with anyone thinking of going. You will see a prefectly... more

My husband and I were very disappointed by their tour. BREAKFAST: The breakfast merely consisted of cold and stale muffins from Costco with regular coffee. No other beverages/food were provided (no milk, no juice, no decaf, no other pastries). When I asked for hot water for tea, the owner brought out water from the bathroom and started boiling, but it... more

I had done some research before we left and found that if you drive to their facility instead of having hotel pickup you can call and get a rate of $95.00 per person saving 60-75 dollars over the hotel tour desk rates. Booked by phone and went for the sunset tour. This is truly the trip of a lifetime. Guides... more

I went on this trip with my fiancée, dad, sister, and brother-in-law and we all had a really good time. One of the guides picked us up at our resort (Westin Ocean Villas) at the crack of 3:00 am, which was rough, especially since we were the first stop and therefore had to sit through everyone else in our group... more

After reading all of the reviews telling how the ride from the top of the extinct volcano was dangerous to the point of death, I was reluctant to participate in this activity. However, after doing some checking around, those who did recommend the trip seemed to favor Maui Downhill. Since those folks obviously survived to tell the tale, I took... more
