The drive into the park is through very lush landscape. Parking is simple (there are a couple of parking lots), and no charge to enter the park. We took the fist loop down towards the stream. Stopped to sit in the shade and eat the lunch we had brought with us. The map made it look like the loop was... more

Small park, but very pretty. Recommended see. Area is prettier if the sun is shining. more

The entire island of Maui is beautiful. This park is a great way to see more of Maui in less time. We drove here from the west side of Maui. We were so happy we went. The drive is nice and the scenery is beautiful. We arrived around 11am. The clouds were sitting on the mountain tops and the air... more

It's a pretty place, but it's almost like they started building the park/trails and ran out of money in a month. There's just not too much to it. You can see it in a short amount of time. I kept wishing that the trail would lead further towards the Ioa Needle or at least somewhere. It's worth a visit if... more

Many people expect a 2 hour adventure through lush peaks and mountain hikes. Iao Valley is a great place to visit, but don't think for a minute it is a full-day destination. You can easily see everything it has to offer in 1 to 1 and a half hours of walking around. The lookout point has a couple hundred steps... more

In my opinion, the needle is overrated. My wife and I thought that there was a hike that you could do to the needle, but we were dissapointed to find out that it is just a very crowded lookout spot and some kind of remake of a classic hawaiin village. We really streched out our time there A LOT and... more

We visited Maui to celebrate our 5 year anni. We were on the island for one hour when we stopped at Iao Valley Needle. We were only out of the car for 20mins tops and our car was broken into. We parked in the main parking lot with lots of people around (10am). Didn't matter, they took our backpacks and... more

My husband and I had some extra time one morning, so we decided to make a quick trip over to Iao Valley State Park. I would only recommend this for a quick stop - there isn't too much to do or see here. The Needle is pretty to see, and the stream that rushes over the rocks is nice as... more

From pretty much anywhere on Maui except maybe Pala its a short drive to the Iao Valley area and its well worth the time. This is one of those pristine, beautiful places that you definitely don't want to miss. more

Compared to the rest of Maui, this was a disappointment. Lots of people, very little to see, and dirty. Litter every where. Very commercialized. more
