Only 4 miles... more » Owner description: Turtle's Paddle Adventures offers Stand Up Paddle (SUP) lessons on the Island of Oahu at one of the MOST SPECTACULAR locations in Hawaii. Only 4 miles from Oahu's famed NORTH SHORE and just a short and beautiful 45 minute drive into the Hawaiian countryside from Waikiki brings you to the one of Hawaii's best kept secrets - Kahana Bay! It is here that you will begin your paddle adventure with us. Our lessons last for 2 EXCITING, FUN FILLED hours and begin with a short land lesson. Then we hit the water, launching in the CALM, FLAT stream where the instructor will continue to teach you different stroke techniques, stances, and turns while we tour the GORGEOUS stream leading into the jungle 3/4 of a mile toward the mountains... going around several bends in the stream, and ducking under tree branches. The session will end with us paddling out into the bay and landing back on the beach at the parking lot where we met. A new TV series called The River is being filmed at this location. Have your picture taken with a big boat used in the filming of the show. And if we are lucky...your lesson will take place during filming so you can catch a glimpse of it in action! To see a clip of The River (scheduled to start in March 2012) go to you tube. The instructors take pictures of the group during the tour and then emails the images to the group for free. A bottle of water is taken on the tour for each paddler free of charge. We use "Top of the Line" equipment and have sizes available to accommodate all size people. There is NO weight limit! Life jackets available on request. All skill levels Welcome! We have THE BEST RATES on Oahu and our lessons start at $59 per person We offer DISCOUNTED RATES for our KAMA' AINA and MILITARY personnel. We operate 7 days a week, 365 days a year.... from sunrise to sunset. You must be at least 7 years of age to paddle alone on a board. Children under 7 may ride tandem on the instructors board for a $40 fee. The child will be given a small paddle so that they can be included in the paddling. Our instructors are EXTREMELY PROFESSIONALl and KNOWLEDGEABLE on the sport of Stand Up Paddle. They are HIGHLY QUALIFIED, DEDICATED, and have an INTENSE PASSION for stand up paddle that they just want to share with the world! They are also extremely knowledgeable on local vegetation (trees, plants, flowers, etc) and are are more than happy to share their knowledge of the area and answer all of your questions. We at Turtle's Paddle Adventures are SUPER STOKED to teach you the world of stand up paddling. You will be TOTALLY PUMPED UP after your lesson! We can teach up to 5 people at a time, but NEED AT LEAST a 48 hour notice for groups of 5. We wanted to do some SUP touring on the island, did a google search and found Turtle! This was the most fun we have had on oahu and we've been coming here 20 years! It was amazingly fun! I had so much fun during it and I only fell in 3 times! The biggest down side was the ocean wind. it was extra windy that day... but that's more nature. The instructor is great! :) she was really fun.. hope you have a good time on YOUR paddle boarding lesson.

Yes, unfortunately, the wind does effect all coast lines of Oahu. But that is why this location is perfect for stand up paddle, because we can choose to stay on the river which is blocked off from the wind, or we can venture out into the ocean where you can feel the difference in wind, currents, waves, etc. We are... I was very surprises that stand up paddling was so easy! Well, Turtle made it easy. She is an outstanding teacher and the river we paddled up is one of the most BEAUTIFUL places I have ever been in my life. Seriously, the scenery is absolutely outstanding.
