The Byodo-In Temple is a great self-directed tour stop location. There is a nominal entry fee of $3 per person. It's an easy walking area good for people of any fitness level. The grounds are beautiful and a great place for some reflection time. I was surprised to find three elegant black swans and quite a few turtles in addition... More

Beautiful and serene place tucked away at the end of the Valley of the Temples. Honestly, I was initially skeptical whether we were going the right way as we were going through a cemetery occupying the vast green lands and then there it was, at the end, that streak of unmistakable red and colors of yellow and white; a typical... This amazing attraction will bring some peace and serenity to all those entering the sanctuary grounds. Hidden beyond a cemetery, the attraction lures those looking for some quiet solitude. The vivid colors and panoramic scenes is situated at a base of the mountain. Misty clouds shrouds the top of the mountain, an awesome backdrop of this Japanese temple replica. History... More

Doesn't take a massive amount of time to wander around, but is a wonderful area with spectacular views from the Valley of the Temples over the cemetery. Very tranquil - a mini Japan!

We had a quick stop at the temple as part of a full day sightseeing tour. It was a nice change of pace, things to do: relax, feed the koi and make sure to ring the bell! Serenity now!

We stopped by Byodo-In Temple on a drive from Honolulu to the North Shore. It was a pleasant surprise and refreshing to have such a peaceful setting after several days in the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. The temple is beautiful and the grounds are spectacular. There are thousands of koi -- get the fish food to get the full... More

This is a beautiful location for family portraits. Fees at the time we visited were $3 per adult, $1 per child and cash only. Hours are 9-5PM daily, go early if you can. We got there around 9:45AM and it was very peaceful, around 10AM, a tour bus of visitors arrived and the temple became very crowded. There are several... More

My daughter recommended this shrine or we would probably have paid attention to it. It is off the highway and you have to be looking for it. The locations is at the foot of the steep windward peaks with ribbon waterfalls gracing the peaks. It is set back from the highway at the end of a cemetary. Cost is cheap... More
