We were given a personal guided tour of the ship by a former sailor on the USS Newport News, a sister ship to the Salem. This guy knew what he was talking about. We literally got take from stern to bow and learnt so much. This ship is in the most amazing untouched condition. It is a proper museum standing... More

This was a hidden gem. You can tour the entire ship (USS Salem). It is easy to do a self-tour (lots of information) or does offer a guided tour. There is a memorial inside the museum (inside the ship) for WW II ships and sailors through 9-11. It is a great tribute to those who fought for our freedom. There... More
