While walking back from Ghirardelli Square we found the Maritime National Park. It is free to just walk around and take pictures. There is even an "audio" tour of sorts: along the pier there is a phone number you can call on your cell phone, type in a code of what you would like to hear more about and enjoy... more
There is a museum and the Hyde Street Pier and also the Bath House next to Ghiradelli Square which is being remodeled. A rather diverse park worth a few minutes when in the area. more

I have visited here twice now and it has been fantastic everytime. There is a collection of different boats to see on Hyst Street Pier and all of them are different. There is a big sail boat that used to transport goods all around the world, you can walk all through it seeing the different cabins and the storage areas... more
