The place has changed a lot over the years and is a bit out of the way but with the chocolate shops and the fish restaurants it has a great outlook and is better value than the "trap" on Fishermans Wharf

A fair distance past fisherman's wharf and not near many other sights in San Francisco, and I wouldn't say this is a must see activity unless you are a chocoholic. Ghirardelli chocolate is one of the best I have tried in the world. When you walk into a Ghirardelli store you should receive a sample and boy are they delicious. I always buy a hot chocolate to go as they are just devine. No need for sugar, they are sweet enough. Try one, you will not be disappointed!
We went here this spring after we ate dinner at Pier 29. We walked through the shops and they were handing out little chocolates in each one..yum! We ended up getting some sundaes at the shop downstairs because everything was very crowded upstairs. Very yummy though! But also expensive for what you got, but it is all about the experience!...

it's hard to park in the area and it gets really crowded on weekends. it's not my fave place in the city
If you are looking for places to go fine. But should not be at the top of the list.

surrounded by chocolate....who can complain, really? Great shops,Great cupcakes. nom-nom!
