I ate here because I saw it on an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. We were seated on the enclosed patio on a chilly night, and there was live music and a small but boisterous crowd on the patio with us. My colleagues ordered the Fish and Chips and I ordered the Shrimp and Crab sandwich. I wasn't sure... More

Great bar. Fab atmosphere. We were lucky enough to catch a great wee jazz/blues band on the Friday night we were there. Barman was great - brilliant sense of humour and so fast at making those cocktails! Didn't eat so can't comment on the food although we did see the band tucking into a plate of calamari in their break... More

My white chowder was a little too thin for me but the steamed mussels were very good. The weather was a perfect balmy 72 degrees at 7:30pm. I really don't consider this place a dive bar at all.

Pier 23 is a great location and a fun atmosphere. On a beautiful sunny day, the outside tables are hard to beat. The service is attentive and familiar. The food is fine to very good. For those expecting fine food, you're in the wrong place. Pier 23 is comfort food combined with fresh seafood. With your expectations dialed in, the... More

We saw them on the Food Channel with Guy F. and emailed for a reservation. The owner got back with a cheerful message within 2 hours. We stopped by two weeks later from Oregon on a Tuesday for a late lunch at 1:30. They had a note on our reservation that we were there for the crab and were very... More

Really cool down to earth dive bar with live music and responsibly priced drinks. Do not eat here though, I thought I'd try traditional San Francisco clam chowder and regretted it for about 3 days.

My father was a Norwegian sailor. From he was 15 till he was 65 he travelled the seas. Having reached 60, he finally became a captain. With a crew of 14, he explored the world on large LPG-tankers, insisting he'd "been in every single country in the world with a port". That leaves slim pickings, Switzerland included. Now, my dad... Saw them on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and decided to stop by while in town. Yes it was a bit divey but don't judge them for that. Seated immediately at around 1:00 for lunch. Waitress came out right away. I had the clam chowder, not too hot, not too cold. The fish tacos, 3 of them, where great. My wife... More
