The show was to run for six weeks. That was over 37 years ago… Today, Steve Silver’s Beach Blanket Babylon has the distinguished title of “World’s Longest Running Musical Revue.” The show – a musical spoof known internationally for its extravagant costumes, outrageous hats, show-stopping numbers and hilarious puns of pop culture and political character – has been seen by over 5.5 million people, including HRC Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall as well as some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. « less

One of the funniest things I've seen lately. If you go, check the website and get reserved seating. Just 2 blocks off the Powell-Mason cable car line.

We enjoyed this...its not Broadway but it's not meant to be! It is a fun time and eating in the Italian section afterwards completes a great day!

The theatre is a surprise, how to get so many people into such a seemingly small area, but it's done and comfortably too. The show is non stop Entertainment, its a bit locally oriented and some references may be missed by overseas visitors,a bit risque but it shines, it glitters and is enormous fun. An elevator is available to reach the balcony... More

We had heard about BBB, and it really met and exceeded our expectations. It's "Capitol Steps" with outrageous, impossible hats and hair! The show moves along so quickly that you don't ever get enough time to figure out how they make those hats and hair stay upright in position. It will always be one of my favorite memories of a... Hubby and I were looking for a fun evening out and the concierge suggested the Babylon cabaret, so we thought we'd give it a try. Got half price tickets at the kiosk in Union Square, so if we didn't like it at least we would have only paid half the price. As it turned out, it was one of the... More

"Over-the-top" doesn't begin to cover it, and not for little kids. Best to see it with local friends who are up on local politics, but not necessary -- appreciate the mayhem, gender-bending, politics-bending, highly inventive costuming and music-adaptations.

The only reason for four stars rather than five is that some of the jokes in this delightful musical extravaganza are about local politics so they will go over the heads of tourists. This is a funny, colorful over the top musical. The costumes and hats are incredible and the talent is excellent. I have been 3 times and never... More

You just have to go to this. I've been 4 times and it changes every few months based upon current affairs. Hillariously funny and entertaining. The price for a live show is reasonable. Have a nice meal in an Italian restaurant beforehand.
