Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ferry ride to / from Angel Island was wonderful. Tram tour of the Island was informative, picturesque
And historical. An open canteen would be a visit topper.

My husband and our 2 daughters ages 3 and 1 went to Angel Island for Fleet Week. We arrived on the 2 PM ferry on Saturday, 10/7/23. They had advertised a "pop up" food spot and shuttle/tram to the viewing area several miles from the docks which is why we bought our tickets and gave it a go....All was well until we arrived on the Island and were told that the "Shuttle" and "Tram" vehicles were broke they were not able to sell us a ticket up to the viewing area.
OK, I thought, this sucks but is beyond their control. We trekked up several miles to see the air show and arrived just minutes before the start of the show. Glad the rangers had a water station for those who thought they would have access to a shuttle but didn't. FYI, there is no shade up top.
To our surprise, as soon as we reached the top of the hike the next shuttle/tram vehicle arrived at the top too.... Very, very disappointing service. To top it off, on the way down they gave priority to people with tickets to the tram/shuttle despite the counter not being willing to sell us a ticket on the way up.
I would say the views area great, but you should be OK with the "bait and switch" as far as services go. When we got back to the ferry dock we had to wait another hour for a return boat despite being on time with the concessions closed.
My poor kids were hot, hungry with no shade in sight ....we were all out of patience at the end making it a terrible experience for all around. I would blame myself for not packing correctly but their website advertised concessions and transportation...don't count on it.

My friends flew into SF for a visit the day before we were scheduled to visit. I was looking forward to our tram ride around the island! Unfortunately, one of my friends got sick so we had to cancel. I tried to obtain a credit for another day but was denied. I understand no refunds but a credit for future use would have been appreciated!

A relaxing day with a deep dive on history. Took the first ferry over in the morning. That gave us plenty of time to grab a snack and wander the waterfront, do the tram tour, spend a couple of hours at the Immigration Station, and get back in time to catch the first ferry back mid-afternoon. Highly recommend doing a similar itinerary and taking the time to learn of how Asians were treated here in the late 1800's/early 1900's. :-(

We had a great time! We went during a weekend day in the morning and the island was pretty empty which made it perfect for a hike. We loved the tram tour and the sun came out for a perfect day. I am glad we stayed at the museum to learn more about the history of the island.

Thank you for the safe ferry ride to and from Angel Island. We also booked a tram tour which was worth the ride to view mostly everything on the island. Our guide was very courteous and answered all our questions. We have been sharing your company with family and friends. Thanks again and GOD bless!

It was a fun filled weekend boating to the island from Oyster point marina. Had a picnic on one of the parks tables/benches overlooking the boat tied on the berth. The tram ride provides a lot of historical information.

I really liked the Tram Tour. The Tour Recording was easy to understand and interesting, and the driver added his own information from time to time. They also let me hop off part way back to hike the rest of the way, which I appreciated. Don't miss The Immigration and Detention Center - very haunting and full of stories.

This heavenly spot sits in the middle of San Francisco Bay - just a ferry ride away from the Embarcadaro or from Tiberon. The island combines the best in tourism: history, beautify and uncrowded peacefulness.
