Well done for all ages. Enjoy picnic tables, room to walk and time to explore. The POW museum is fascinating, we see something different with every visit. The statues are amazing.

Andersonville is very well done to educate visitors to all that occured in this southern prison. The musuem and grounds are well maintained and give one the sense of understanding the challenges faced of the Yankee prisoners of war as well as the southern soldiers. The museum is also dedicated to all US prisoners of war with a lot of... More

My wife and I visited Andersonville since she has a Great Great Grandfather and Uncle buried there. Andersonville is the site of the largest Civil War prison and cemetery for Union soldiers captured during the war. You can do a self-guided tour or partake in the guided tour and I recommend the latter as the Park Ranger gives you a... More

I went to this site because my husband is really into civil war and other historical events....I wasn't expecting much because I really had no idea what this was and what part it played in history. To my surprise this was an amazing place to visit. I learned so much, it really had an impact on me. If you do... More

Andersonville is somberly moving for any visitor. It's story really underscores the horrofic conditions that every war visits on both the victors and the vanquished.

At the site you will find: A state of the art Prisoner of War Museum The site of the Andersonville prison with grounds and a partial example of the stockade A National Cemetery Each one alone is worth the visit; together they are a must see. The grounds are so beautiful it is hard to imagine the prison camp.

I had to go up to Albany yesterday and so I asked the Wife and kids if they would like to come along and I would take them to Andersonville Prison which is roughly 50 miles north of Albany, GA. We started with the film which showed the conditions in the camp and then saw the other sites. The sheer... More

Everyone should come here at least once. Large area, with lots to see for all ages. National cemetaty here as well. While you're in the area, stop into the town. It is small, but the people are nice.

No where in the south can you get a feeling of the total senselessness of hundreds of thousands of Americans who killed one another.
