We had a park ranger ride with us for the morning and this was one of the places he took us. The buildings are fascinating with paintings inside the old motel. The springs are warm and inviting. Don't miss this when you are in Big Bend!

Unless you are into sitting in very hot water, in the sun, and on very hot days, find something else to do. To get to the spring, there is a two-mile, rough, dirt road. Then a short 10-15 minute, dusty hike in the hot sun from the parking lot. The pool is so small that it feels full with only... More

Pack your swimsuit and take some time to relax in a natural hot spring right on the banks of the Rio Grande.

Recommend coming with your bathing suit already on and have on good walking shoes for the short hike. There is a compostable toilet, just one to share with the crowd. The drought has caused them to close off the other 12 x 12 space that used to hold water. That has only happened in the last 2 years so the... More

First of all, we didn't expect the drive to the hot springs is so rough. Not very wide road with one side being a cliff - without knowing it before hand, we thought we were going the wrong way. However, once we were there, it's heaven! The jagged cliff leads us to the hot springs. We wished we brought our... More

We visited the Hot Springs area while a part of a guided tour. It was an easy hike around the old buildings, past the petroglyphs, past the hot springs, then down to an area of really colorful rocks. The Rio Grande flows energetically at this one point, making for a beautiful contrast to the desert landscape. Towering mountains around the... More

We hadn't heard of the hot springs and didn't know what to expect during our day-stop in Big Bend. The drive to the springs is a bit hairy, wouldn't recommend it in an RV. Once you get to the parking lot there are old building ruins from the homesteaders and others who explored this desert oasis. The trail to the... More
