Didn't know what to expect but had a very good time. My husband and I were on a weekend get away from our three little ones and this was a nice, quiet place to go and enjoy, observe, and learn about nature. The Bonsai exhibit was especially enjoyable.

We found out about the Arboretum by looking online for Asheville activities and saw that there was a guided forest walk on the afternoon we were planning to be there. We signed up and had an extremely informative and fun 2+ hour walk through the forest with David, who is a very knowledgeable and entertaining volunteer. We were sorry that... More

Nice exhibit hall, but you have to pay extra to see the exhibits unless you are a member. They have nice walking trail as you first come in, on the left, which loops by the arboretum and then circles back down, maybe 2 miles? It's an easy little walk. Hint: good place for labradors as there's a stream running along... More

The bonzai plants were beautiful. Also, there was a special exhibit on poisonous plants that was really well done.

Our first visit to the North Carolina Arboretum will certainly not be our last. These wooded acres and the beautiful exhibits displayed here add up to a special place. They are celebrating the NC Arboretum"s 25th anniversary this year. Here are some highlights of our visit ... 1. You feel the relaxed atmosphere and peaceful surroundings as soon as you... More

This lovely arboretum and gardens makes use of its unusual hill-top location to give visitors a wonderful experience. We loved being up on the mountainside and all the flowers and trees, and especially loved the bonzai exhibit.

We have had a membership at the Arboretum for almost a decade, and never tire of visiting the gardens. There are quite a few special exhibitions, too, with the bonsai expo in October being the most popular. We also really enjoy the dahlia and mums festivals. The gardens are lovely, and there are walking trails of varying lengths through the... More

The trails are varied and well marked, with a free trail map provided. There's a small gift shop and a cafe, each with a variety of items to choose from. The facilities are very clean and well maintained.

The gardens were lovely. We especially enjoyed the hiking trails on well-groomed paths. There is a cute little cafe if you get hungry that served well prepared food. The gift shop is nice too.

The bonzai garden is amazing! The grounds as a whole are wonderful to stroll through. Give this one at least 2 hours.
