We can meet you at your hotel, or the airport or at the Cruise-ship pier. Private Tours are a great way to see hilly Boston, in particular, because with our smaller vehicles,we have access to the "off the beaten" track neighborhoods and to the "hidden Boston" which you cannot see from a tour trolley or bus ( which are prohibited entry to residential areas of this 400 year old city), including our "Little Italy" and the 3rd largest Chinatown in the USA. Tours can be tailor made to meet most requests, and we can take you to see where Americas Revolution began in Lexington, and Concord, visit homes of authors, see Walden Pond and Harvard University ( which Gen. Washington borrowed to use as Americas first army base 1775 ), visit botanical or horticultural gardens and cemeteries, view interesting architecture, colleges ( more than 100 colleges/universities in Greater Boston !), Also Fenway Park, the Cheers Bar, site of 1st World Series, Freedom Trail and much, much more. Also, we provide private tours to Salem, the "Witch City" and to Newport,RI, coastal Maine,Cape Cod and Autumn foliage tours to Southern NH and Vermont. We love School group tours, half our guides have teaching certificates, several are published authors, and former National Park Guides, also,we accommodate handicapped visitors. Fees are reasonable. We also provide limited, long duration ,New England and the islands, overnight tours as well, please inquire. « less

Grey drippy weather in Boston did not spoil a thoroughly enjoyable day with our guide David Welans. Our good experience with Boston Private Tours began when we called Bill McDonough and explained that we wanted to see as much of Boston, Lexington and Concord as possible in one day, a lot of ground to cover but doable. Before we had... More

Nine ND women recently spent the day with Bill and Deklan touring Boston and it was awesome! The knowledge of these gentlemen is amazing. They picked us up right at our hotel- we toured all the highlights we wanted to see, had lunch in little Italy, dessert at Mike's Pastry's OF COURSE and after an afternoon of more touring, were... Matt was our guide for the day. He picked us up promptly. Days before our tour I had many communications with both Bill and Matt. They had many suggestions and wanted to know what I was interested in seeing. They asked if there were any limitations and so forth. Matt knows Boston and enjoys showing it, that is obvious. On... We traveled to Boston for a family reunion over the holidays. Never booked a "private" tour before, but every inch worth the extra $. We could have gone on downtown tour, and paid $40 a person, but for just a little bit more money, we were picked up, spent the day with a FANTASTIC tour guide, dropped off at a great... More

Arrrangements were made with owner Bill McDonough, who lined things up even though he himself was away in Hawaii for the holidays. We needed a van because we had two adult couples, and we needed a tour that would be mostly driving because two of us had difficulty walking. Bill had Declan Kelly give the tour; and he did a... My husband and I spent the day driving through the various areas of Boston with David, Bill's son. He was fun to be with and showed us all the interesting neighborhoods in the area.

Just completed an exceptional tour with Matt McDonald. Contacting BPT was easy; I left a message with Bill McDonough and he returned the call the next morning, and we booked a tour for the following day. Bill was very friendly and professional, and immediately set me at ease. On the morning of the tour, Matt was kind enough to call... More

On a recent cruise of Canada and New England, I was concerned that a trip to Boston would not be possible due to our short visit in the port of Gloucester (7 AM to 3 PM). Most of the passengers that chat through Cruise Critic strongly advised against attempting to go into the city and they warned that to do... More

We did a 2 day tour with Martha from Explore NY Tours. Highly recommend her as a tour guide. She knows NYC like the back of her hand. Answered every question with expertise. She also guided our bus driver as to where he could go and couldn't go with a bus, told him where to park etc. She is a... More

In 2004 I did my first tour with Bill of Boston Private Tours and have doing touring with Bill and his colleague, Matt, multiple times since then. I've done several solo tours with this company and, as a teacher, asked them to accompany me and my students on our school trips to Boston. Think of a "checklist" of qualities you... More
