It is recommended in the travel guides that you give yourself 11/2 hours at this museum. Truthfully it is more like 3 hours. It is jam-packed with interesting facts about Kansas History. If you are visiting Topeka make sure you add the Museum to your list of things to do. It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. more

I visited the Kansas Museum of History this month and was pleasantly surprised. The exhibits are very well-designed and informative, detailing the history of Kansas from pre-historic times and early settlement to the present day. Exhibits on the Civil War era are excellent, with great background on the Kansas-Nebraska Act, "Bleeding Kansas" and the war itself. Particularly enjoyable for kids... more
