The Gaslamp Quarter is a fun and happening place on Saturday nights for the 21-35 year old crowd. If you get there before 10 p.m. you get in for half price at the nightclubs ($10). There are a lot of people there so it is a good place to check out and be seen. There are only two problems with... more

We stayed in the Gaslamp Quarter in the Omni for two nights. We originally planned on just going to PetCo for a tour and the Midway and Mardi Gras. I wish we could have stayed longer! TONS of excellent resturants and bars and clubs. Cute boutiques and shops everywhere. The Mardi Gras celebration and parade was a riot. I can... more

If you are looking for restaurants or bars, then the Gaslamp Quarter might seem more interesting. We visited the Gaslamp Quarter on a Sunday afternoon, hoping to visit some interesting shops. We were disappointed that there were a lot of bars and restaurants, but not any shops that we saw. There is a large multi-level mall with no interesting stores... more

There are many great origional buildings. There is also a wonderful house museum that is open to the public too. If you are an antique... more

This place has done a 180 in the last 5 years from what it once was. I mean this in a good way. the restaurants are world class and the entertainment is everywhere. From street performers to Petco park- home of the Padres, everything is at your fingertips. The waterfront is walking distance from the Gaslamp and the night life... more

STAY AWAY. While the section called the Gaslamp Quarter can be viewed as nice, I felt it was far too congested with over priced mediocre restaurants and far too congested with the "riff-raff" of the city. I was actually disgusted with the homeless, the unpleasant elements and the apparent drug dealers roaming free on almost every corner of the city... more
