A whale or dolphin sighting is guaranteed or your next trip is free. Once the boat was beyond the no-wake zone, it seemed the boat was on a race to satisfy the guarantee. About 1.5 - 2 hours into the trip, we did see whales right next to the boat. It was very cool to see the whales. The boat... More

They guarantee a whale sighting and boy did they deliver. A huge humpback whale. Four breaches, two right beside the boat. Take your motion sickness pill prior to going out. Many did not and fed the fish over the side. Snacks and drink available during cruise.

I go out at least twice a year whale watching and only go with this company and if sailing is not your thing then this company is the BEST whale boat to go on, the boat is comfortable and the staff works very hard to take good care of its clients and the captain tries his hardest to find whales... Had a great time. Professional and knowledgeable staff. Had a great 3-hour tour. Next time, can't forget the sunblock. Sea was a bit rough at times, but we did see whales. :)

This was a Groupon for buy one get one free. The staff was friendly and informative. We saw one gray whale; however, the dolphins were more fun. They played in our wake and along side the boat. It was a beautiful day and regardless if we saw any whales, it was a fun and memorable boat ride.

I've been wanting to go "whale watching" for quite some time and I finally got the opportunity to go this past weekend! We were aboard the "Privateer" for about 3.5 hours. Due to the storm, the seas were a tad rough, but that did not stop us from having a very nice time. We got to see sea lions, common... More

We barely saw a whale which looking for one extended the trip by 30 minutes. There were not many dolphins either. I just felt the tour went on too long with not much to see.

Went to SD Whale Watch due to great reviews, was not disappointed. The boat rode well, very dry. Day was nice with smooth wave action. Dolphins and sea lions out and saw 2 fin back whales. Well worth going I would go again if I am in the area

For any nature lover, this tour is a must go. Go with an open mind: it is not easy to see them, and is only possible to see them from afar. Even so, I guarantee that nobody forgets the first time that the nozzle can be seen, or when you have the luck to see an entire family diving. In... More

I have been whale watching for 20+ years and have traveled all over. I had just returned from Baja Mexico and had the unique opportunity to pat Gray whales and wanted to go on a normal whale watch out of San Diego. I went on a competitors boat on Monday cause it was a holiday and this one was booked... More
