The cape is just so peaceful and relaxing.. a great place to go and unwind and enjoy the beach without all the commercial buildings, heavy traffic and city noise.
This is a great place to get away from things and relax. You can take your 4 wheel drive truck, catch the ferry from Davis ( We used Davis Ferry Co) and drive up or down the beach and camp. There was hardly anyone around during the week if you drive north away from the cabin rental area (where there...

Hiked the island for 3 hours and never got bored. The trails were well marked and easily manageable. The beaches were beautiful and not very many people around. I was there in April, so maybe that's why, but the weather was very nice still, just a little chilly in the water. I saw deer, snakes, turtles and more shells than...

We were there in the off-season, but Cape Lookout beach was deserted except for the few folks that went over on the ferry with us. The lighthouse was not open, but we definitely enjoyed walking around the area, seeing the buildings, and reading the information along the way. Bathrooms were not open - just FYI.
Located in eastern North Carolina, the Cape Lookout Lighthouse is a must see for lighthouse lovers. The park is accessible by boat and there are several families and businesses that will boat u over for however long u want to stay for a small fee as well as pick u up later at your predetermined time. There are few eminities...

It is a short ferry ride to the island. Captain Jacks (at the far end of Harker's Island) is only $10 roundtrip. Take some plastic bags or tote bags to collect sea shells. The best hunting is just after an offshore storm of some type since it shakes loose lots of shells. If you aren't picky, anytime is good to...

You can only access this lighthouse and its beaches via a boat. This adds to its character and charm. Many people avoid coming here because of its remoteness. That adds to the beauty of it. I suggest bug spray for on a calm day, the mosquitoes love to get you on the boardwalk area. Other than that, which is easily...

We took the ferry over to the island in the morning. We were able to get tickets to climb the lighthouse (reservations recommended) and it provided a great view of the surrounding area. We had a learned a little history of the lighthouse, had a picnic lunch, and then hit the beach. History, nature, beach, and a lighthouse ... what's...

We went to the Cape (as locals call it) on Memorial Day week end. It is just a treasure that anyone would enjoy. If you ever have the opportunity to go....do not hesitate. BEAUTIFUL is the only word to describe.
