We chose to depart from the Liberty State Park in New Jersey and it was an excellent choice. It was a mid-morning on a nice sunny Sunday and there was almost no line at all. Compared to a long line at Battery Park, I think it's well worth it if you can drive to the Jersey side. The line for... more

The last time I went to see the statue of liberty, I was in 8th grade. I really enjoyed myself as a kid because it was my first time visiting and interested in wanting to see it for the first time. My teacher was afraid of hights and would not let us climb the crown, which was a bummer. This... more

At first glance security at the Statue appears very good. And rightly so.... Even being exposed puffs of air being blown at you to detect explosives. However ,I was asked to remove a small shoulder strapped bag and to place it in a locker at a cost of $2. I showed the attendant that it was empty apart from two... more

I came to see the famous Statue of Liberty. The ferry only works until 1pm, so make sure you come before that time. You also need to buy a ticket for $12 or so, you should buy online so you don't have to wait for too long. The ferry is old, dirty and smells bad. The actual statue is Ok,... more

This is really a must see for every American. It took me almost 47 years to get to NYC and check out the sites. The Statue of Liberty is breathtaking and emotional. Get there early for no lines and little wait. We took the first ferry to the island and after going thru security and putting our bags in a... more

My Travel Partner and I purchased tickets in July for an October entry to the crown of the Statue of Liberty. When the day finally came it was cool, grey and misty. We had our doubts, but pushed ahead. One hour on the train to Penn Station, a subway ride downtown and short walk through Battery Park and the rest... more

I remember climbing up the slow, winding staircase to the crown as a kid during WWII. It was a hot summer day, but the view from the windows of the crown was magnificent (albeit short; the guides were trying to keep things moving). The crown was closed to visitors for several years, but I've read that it's open again --... more

The statue of liberty is a wonderful piece of history, standing proudly on Ellis Island. I have not taken any of the tours to the Island, I only saw the Statue from the Staten Island Ferry as I travelled to and from Manhattan/Staten Island. It still made for great pictures and I stared in awe each time we passed. I... more

The Statue is impressive, and the history of its gift, along with France's gift of idea's about freedom to our founding fathers, and the gift of French military support at Yorktowne, leads one to think about both our nation's strength and its obligations. Physically, the monument is impressive. We should recall the emotions of so many of the people whose... more
