Took one of the offered tours - an introduction to Met - well worth it. Then did the exhibitions.
What a spectacular experience. The Met is so beautiful and expansive that it will take several visits to take it all in. The collection is, of course, impressive, but one could visit this museum just to soak up the architecture, history and ambiance of the place. The way they display art is an art form unto itself, and to wander...

With a collection spanning from ancient Egyptian art to contemporary painting and sculpture, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a must-see for art lovers. In addition to viewing Old Master works by artists including Vermeer and Rembrandt, Impressionist paintings by Monet and Degas, and works by American artists such as Sargent and Louis Comfort Tiffany, visitors can explore a large...

It's huge, so pick a couple of areas to explore in detail. We caught one of the temporary exhibitions, then hit the Egyptian temple room and a few of the modern art rooms.
Amazing museum, with one of the world's great collections. We really enjoyed seeing it again after a few years between. This place is wonderful, but it is huge. Pick one or two things to see, and see them. Then leave and come back another time to see something else. Otherwise you'll become totally exhausted and won't have the time to spend on any one exhibit.
Loved the Prada installation just loved the whole experience. All the staff so helpful.
I love this Museum . It is full of wonders to interest everyone in the family. Special exhibits are grand.
Van Gogh, Degas, Egyptian, Greek, middle ages...pretty much everything! Tough to do in a day, but if you crank, you can see a lot! Kids ran outta gas late in afternoon, so maybe go early so they stay sharp. 8, 11, 13 yr olds did great and were very interested for most of it. Enjoy...a NYC gem!
