Okay, I love art, but this has lots of stuff that is much more than art. Mummies, coats of armor, furniture, etc. I loved this place and so did my wife. It was my favorite site in NYC and her second favorite (Mus of Natural History). You won't see everything the first time, but you can see a good bit.... more

The new renovations at the Metropolitan are lovely, soaring spaces that make the Greek and Roman galleries and the new American Gallery really spectacular. Don't miss the reconstructed roman villa and gorgeous statuary. The special exhibits were wonderful- Robert Frank photography exhibit "the Americans" is a must see. But the staff is grumpy, a guard actually tried to stop me,... more

One of the most renowned museums in the US is definitely worth the attention. With curatorial departments including Greek, Egyptian, Ancient and Eastern Art, you easily spend a full day here and still leave with exhibits yet to see. Admission cost: There is no charge for entrance to special exhibitions and the museum has a wonderful admission fee policy of... more

This museum is in a class by itself. OK, maybe the Louvre is in the same class. You can forget about seeing all of this in one day, it would take at least a week. The key is to pick one particular section, say European painting, and focus in on that area. You can probably do that section justice if... more

I've been there twice in the past 15 years and each time have come out wishing I had more time to explore it. It is one of the few places in the world where you can see art from all over the world, of top quality, under one roof. The "open spaces" with natural light are beautiful. My top tip... more

Unfortunately, we visited on a cold, rainy day in October and so did everyone else in town, to get indoors. It was very crowded in the main lobby and gift shop and many of the exhibit rooms. But our main problem was that the extensive collections would take days to see in detail. The Met houses amazing exhibits of all... more

This museum has everything, from Egyptian Temples to knights in shining armor. It may say it is an art museum, but the roman sculptures and Egyptian sarcopheguses make it a history museum too. This is a must see for everyone! more

This is by donation although they will suggest you pay $20. There is a lot of variety from Egyptian mummies, Greek and Roman sculpture to a Dyson vacuum in the modern art section. Plan on tired feet and 3 hours. more

the Metropolitan Museum of Art would be my choice - allow at least one day due to the vastness of the collections - read up on it (on the net) before going so as to be more focused on what you wish to see - it's astonishing. more
