We didn't see much of this since we had timed tickets for the Liberty Island tour. But what we saw was nice. Not for a seperate trip, but worth seeing if you are in the area of Battery Park or the NYC side of the Staten Island Ferry and have some spare time.

We visited the Castle Clinton monument last week and found it to be an interesting attraction at the lower end of Battery Park, where the boats leave for the Statue of Liberty. Castle Clinton seemed to have an interesting history and there is free information there describing its role in the shaping of lower Manhattan. We especially liked reading about... More

Part of New York history - it was used in many different purpose as time changed. The National Park staff will give you free tour with interesting history. Courtyard is now ticket booth for Statue of Liberty cruise. Very informative.

The building itself is worth a quick look around, they have remains of the old battery wall on display, but that's pretty much it. The rest of it is just signs telling you about other historical places in the city you can go visit.

This place is often overlooked by many, including those that visit it. It was the US Army Headquarters for a while and it a nice building. It's where you can get your tickets to go see the Statue of Liberty but you don't have to get tickets to enjoy it. I'm sure at some point in NY you'll visit Battery... More

This is where you go to get tickets to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Since you are there, you may as well spend a little time looking at it. It is a nice historical site and will not take long to see. Spend the time reading the information and you may be surprised at what you learn.

Castle Clinton is the fort in Battery Park where hundreds of people queue for the Statue of Liberty tickets every day. Unfortunately, most people don't take the time to walk around and enjoy this historic site. Displays explain some of the history of the City, and remains of the original wall can still be seen.
