It is a unique place on earth. We were with first time visitors from the Netherlands and is a must visit when going to New York the first time and a place to revisit whenever possible. Thankfully the area has been cleaned up of the type of establishments that were previously in the area.

I guess we all need to see this place once. After that you are crazy to go back. It is everything you expect. Sensory overload, swarms of people, loud taxis, no room to move....oh my! Am glad I experienced it, but wont go back.

Good place to people watch! Only complaint is those life size cartoon Disney characters that charge you if you want your photo taken with them! Also some crazy topless senior female caused visitors to gawk! Good thing was seeing John Stossel (Fox News) interviewing people in the square regarding federal budget and sequestration. Very busy, lots of people trying to sell tours, shows and anything they can. We went once just to tick it off the list but it's not a place we will want to return to!
