Building a second layer on the GW Bridge was a brilliant move and designing it so that would be possible when needed was very clever. The bridge is not the most beautiful I have seen but it is efficient and handles a lot of traffic.

Two things that I dislike: expensive tolls and backed-up traffic. One thing I like about this bridge is you can appreciate the Hudson River and NYC's West Side.

Avoid if you can - the bridge is a major focal point but view from a distance - avoid driving over it if you can.

That's the only word to describe this feat of engineering at its best. Did you know that the steel towers were built to be covered with stone at a later date. It was never done. The steel structures are just too majestic to hide.

I've been over this bridge many times. There is a great view, and it's even better at night when it's all lit up! Be prepared for even more traffic jams getting on the bridge than normal in the near future though as they are doing construction. And the price to cross has apparently gone up to $12! Just a friendly... More

Traffic, traffic, traffic. That is the byword of this thoroughfare that connects NYC with Northern New Jersey. It is a major transporation conduit in the Northest. Architecturally it represents Depression era design.

The George Washington Bridge, in my estimation, is one of the most beautiful bridges in the world. Viewing it when getting on the bridge from the New Jersey side you get an appreciation of its massive grace. Viewing it from New York City's West Side Highway or Henry Hudson Parkway on the New York side, you get an appreciation of... More
